MacBook native screen resolution not available by default

Bug #63020 reported by Stefan Daniel Schwarz (Wolfram Ravenwolf) on 2006-09-29
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
xorg (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

System/Preferences/Screen Resolution defaults to 1024x768 and there's no higher resolution available. However, the MacBook's native screen resolution is 1280x800. To make use of that resolution, one has to install the package "915resolution" from the Universe repository.

Changed in xorg:
status: Unconfirmed → Confirmed

I can confirm this is still an issue with Edgy RC

...and with the final Ubuntu 6.10 - "915resolution" still works as work-around!

Timothy Smith (tas50) wrote :

This is a really a duplicate of the same issue on any 915 chipset machine and it relates to how the native resolution is stored on the computer.

For the record I've booted fedora core 6 live cd and this issue doesn't happen on a macbook.
