Bug Description
I have not been able to switch resolutions using the standard X Ctrl+Alt combinations in Edgy.
Another user reported trying to add the "DontZoom" option and set it to False in xorg.conf, to no avail.
It is suspected that this problem results from compiling X with the "-fstack-protector" flag enabled (see http://

I can also confirm this bug. Seems to be an upstream bug, but can the patch be backported?

Also seems to interfere w/ deactivategrab, which is needed for breaking out of fullscreen apps like games:

I am alos hanging on this problem
interesting is that I can use xbindkeys to bind "xvidtune -next" to about any keyboard combination except for Control+Alt+KP_Add
So the functionality is halfway there and halfway gone.
I'm using now the binding Control+Alt+plus and Control+Alt+minus which are the + and - keys on the normal keyboard.
Here is my xbindkeys:
#next rez
"/usr/bin/xvidtune -next"
Control+Alt + plus
#prev rez
"/usr/bin/xvidtune -prev"
Control+Alt + minus

This also affects the one edgy box I have. Control- Alt-Plus/ Minus are ignored in any window manager I use, whether I am running X as root or as a normal user. It is, however, still possible to cycle through your configured video modes using xvidtune or similar.
Attached is the xorg.conf from the affected machine, which worked fine under dapper.
