Bug Description

When clicking Application > Settings > Settings Manager > Screensaver I get dialog displaying

Warning:
The XScreenSaver daemon doesn't seem to be running
on display ":0.0". Launch it now?

After clicking OK lock screen function by Alt-Ctrl-Del etc. works until next logout.

I am using Xubuntu 6.06.1 and XScreenSaver 4.23

Thanks for the bug report. The xscreensaver daemon is responsible for detecting idle time and starting the screensaver. It looks like it's not getting started when the computer is turned on, so a setting needs to be set to start xscreensaver on startup.

Sounds like that setting needs to be entered into the xscreensaver package.

Well, screensaver used to start on startup, but something has broken that function.

If you add xscreensaver in
Applications > Settings > Autostarted applications
it does autostart, but I suppose it is not meant that it has to be added there since xscreensaver used to autostart before even if it was not in the list of autostarted applications in the referred dialog.
