The live CD supports persistent devices. It should also support using a DVD-R (or similar, so there's free space) as the persistent device. This would preferably be done with packet writing.

Needs a fair amount of work to be implemented. Booting from an UDF file system is massively non-trivial and would probably require implementing something like udflinux (similar to isolinux)
