My Linux adventure began in the early 2000s. I initially explored Knoppix, a popular live CD distribution pre-dating Ubuntu. I then transitioned to Ubuntu 4.10 (Warty Warthog), dual-booting it with Windows XP. Back then, Ubuntu wasn't my primary operating system, but rather a reliable backup whenever Windows succumbed to viruses or wouldn't boot.
Fast forward to 2006, and my trusty PC met its maker. (RIP!) My job wasn't tech-related, and I didn't need a computer right away, so I ended up taking a break from the whole PC scene. Didn't even touch one for years!
Then, in 2010, I got myself a new (but not-so-powerful) laptop pre-loaded with the oh-so-buggy Vista. For months, I battled those bugs until I stumbled upon something online about Linux, specifically Ubuntu. (Talk about a blast from the past!) I totally forgot about it, but those articles jogged my memory, and I dove headfirst into research. After a two-day download marathon on my sluggish laptop, I finally brought it back to life with Ubuntu Karmic Koala, living peacefully alongside Vista. This was the turning point – my interest in Linux kept growing with each passing day, until eventually, I ditched Windows altogether.
And the rest is history.
