Ingo Forkel received the diploma (master) and PhD degree in electrical engineering from RWTH Aachen, Germany, in 1999 and 2005, respectively.

From 1999 to 2004 he was with the Chair of Communication Networks, RWTH Aachen University, where he has been involved in the development and simulation of fixed and mobile communication systems. His research interests are in the area of radio resource management algorithms and adaptive link control for TD/FDMA and CDMA systems (UMTS, WiMAX). He is the author or co-author of more than 25 scientific peer-revieved papers and articles in international conferences and journals. He has also contributed to three book-chapters in the area of Wireless Local Loop (WLL) and IEEE 802 systems.

Since 2003 he is with P3 Solutions GmbH, Aachen as a Senior Consultant. He is responsible for UMTS benchmark drive tests, mobile radio network planning and optimization. He has successfully completed or is taking part in projects with well-known European mobile radio network operators (E-Plus, KPN, O2, Orange, Swisscom, T-Mobile, Vodafone). He is also involved in the tender procedure of the German digital radio network for public authorities.

He is a member of the IEEE and VDE.
