PPA description

These packages have been modified to re-enable building of the vmhgfs kernel module, which is approximately 20-35% faster than the fuse implementation.

The module also builds under all HWE kernels for LTS releases.

To fix mount failures during boot when using the kernel module in /etc/fstab:

1. add "vmhgfs" to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
2. execute: sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

Adding this PPA to your system

You can update your system with unsupported packages from this untrusted PPA by adding ppa:jprad/open-vm-tools to your system's Software Sources. (Read about installing) 

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jprad/open-vm-tools
sudo apt update
