Linux-Libre Mainline

PPA description

The kernel named Linux, which is developed and distributed by Linus Torvalds and many others, contains non-Free Software, i.e., software that does not respect your essential freedoms to study, modify and distribute the software.

GNU Linux-libre is a project to maintain and publish 100% Free distributions of the kernel called Linux, with all of the binary blobs, obfuscated code and portions of code under proprietary licenses removed.

The resulting combination of the GNU Operating System and the kernel named Linux is the GNU+Linux operating system, although many (incorrectly) refer to it as "Linux":

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linux-libre/ppa

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-libre
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

You can also grab a new linux-libre deb package @
