PPA description
Use at your own risk, (everything works ok here but..
Also note this ppa *should not be used* if upgrading trusty to a newer Ubuntu release
If you ignore this then use ppa-purge before an upgrade
**Using sudo apt-get dist-upgrade is advised when first adding this ppa.**
Beware - if you have an app that uses libav & not here then it may not work with libav11 though generally speaking installing libav11 won't break apps using libav9
This ppa can be used along with the trusty-media ppa, I'd enable both.

FFmpeg is shared, current sources using -
audacity
audacious-plugins
cmus
libmpv (only provides libmpv*, not mpv. for mpv use other ppa(s)
baka-mplayer, a frontend for mpv, somewhat stagnant
deadbeef
ffmpegthumbnailer (has improved mimetypes
gst-libav
Others maybe later but only if there is some advantage
Note -
to use ffmpegthumnailer, after install *if totem is installed & using nautilus*
sudo mv /usr/share/thumbnailers/totem.thumbnailer /usr/share/thumbnailers/totem.thumbnailer.bak
sudo cp /usr/share/thumbnailers/ffmpegthumbnailer.thumbnailer /usr/share/thumbnailers/totem.thumbnailer
Delete all folders in ~/.cache/thumbnails & ~/.thumbnails
quit & restart nautilus
gstreamer - testing 1.6
mpv - latest in my mpv ppa, FFmpeg internal
mplayer - in trusty-media ppa, FFmpeg internal
This ppa can (should) be used along with https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ubuntu/trusty-media
Static binary only FFmpeg is in trusty-media ppa but may be version-ed lower, haven't decided yet
Vlc - has vdpau support for whatever it's worth (can't test here
when going to a newer vlc please remove ~/.config/vlc & start fresh
Dvdstyler is new version that works. Please note it's been patched to use genisoimage which is the Ubuntu default. If using mkisofs replacement package then this build will not create an iso unless you edit the Settings > core command to mkisofs though can be used to generate a dvd (VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS) as is.
Adding this PPA to your system
You can update your system with unsupported packages from this untrusted PPA by adding ppa:mc3man/testing6 to your system's Software Sources. (Read about installing)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mc3man/testing6
