Hello,
I am in the Fremont area and have been working with Ubuntu since version 5.04. I acquired an associates degree in computer science in 1992, back in the days of the 8088's and when 386's were only rumors! I eventually drifted away from computers in general, for various reasons. One day in 2001, I "won" an old office 133 mhz system from my work and I stumbled upon FreeBSD/opensource in a local office store. (They must have ordered it by mistake!). I started working with a friend, who acquired a couple of old office dual 200 mhz servers. We proceeded to spend many (long) nights downloading source tarballs through dial-up and building up the systems.
Currently, I have introduced Ubuntu to several local individuals. Just recently, an elderly lady so she can play cards. I am currently running a tri-boot system with Gutsy, Ubuntu-Studio, and Hardy-beta and a soon to be upgraded Dapper system on the network. Successful projects include but not limited too: audio recording through Ubuntu Studio, mini-DV camcorder video capture, integration of MySQL and OpenOffice Calc, local LAMP server, and live streaming video.
