Professionally I come from a VMS / Digital UNIX / Solaris background. I am a graybeard who was running on the Internet before it became the Internet.
Currently I am dual booting Windows XP Pro and Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) on a Dell D620 laptop for my own amusement and education. I also use said laptop to promote the use of Ubuntu among friends and associates by demonstrating how easy it is to switch between the two OS's and accomplish the same work.
Last summer I had limited contact with an educator from Sao Paulo, Brazil who teaches computer skills in one of the local schools there. I sent him back home with a CD of Edubuntu and encouraged him to try it on their computers after demonstrating how it could be used here.
