Robot3D PPA
PPA description
Robot3D is a 3D robot simulator built on top of the open-source game engine Delta3D. The Robot3D simulator is created within the European Replicator and Symbrion projects. The simulator makes use of OpenSceneGraph, ODE, OpenGL, OpenAL, CEGUI, and YARP. The simulator can run multiple robots in parallel and is developed for modular robots. Modular robots are swarm robots with the additional ability that they can dock together and form robot organisms. See http://
This is the Personal Package Archive [PPA] for the 3D simulator Robot3D. The PPA is the place where you can obtain Ubuntu packages, outside of the default channels at Ubuntu or Debian. Of course it says everywhere not to trust a site like this completely. However, the packages install just fine, do not break your system, contain no malware, and do not send usage or other personal information to the developers. It is a 3D robot simulator, nothing more. Please, if you are new in robotics, consider waiting a few months more for a version with tutorials, demonstrations, extended documentation, and some youtube movies.

For now you can install the Robot3D simulator developmental package.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:robot3d-
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install robot3d-dev yarp-bin delta3d-apps
This will add two menu items to Applications - Science in the main menu, namely "Yarp Server" and "Robot3D". There are also underlying binaries that come with Delta3D. Just type "STAGE" on the command line, or "ParticleEditor", "ObjectViewer", and "AnimationViewer". Feel free to assign bugs to those, but keep in mind, only the Robot3D simulator is our primary concern!
Adding this PPA to your system
You can update your system with unsupported packages from this untrusted PPA by adding ppa:robot3d-team/ppa-robot3d to your system's Software Sources. (Read about installing)
