Bug Description

I am attempting to convert an EPUB file to MOBI. When I click on the "Use author sort for author" option in the MOBI output menu, I'm still seeing the original author list, not the text I typed in the Author Sort box.

Calibre version: 0.8.70
Operating system: Windows 7

That option only affects what goes intot he MOBI file not what you see
in calibre. Send the newly converted mobi file to akindle and you will
see the author sort. (note that if you have previously sent the book to
the kindle, you have to delete the old copy from the kindle first).

I'm not seeing the author sort in the MOBI file like I should. That's why I opened the bug report.

That option causes the author field in the MOBI to be set to an automatically generated sort value from the author field in the books metadata, not what is put into the author sort field. That is so because MOBI does not have an actual author sort field to use.

Try doing the conversion once with the option and once without and you will see the difference.
