Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

it just worked nice on Feisty Beta Release, but like 2 weeks before the final release, some updates made it stop working completelly. The first sympthom was the "you're disconnected", then this was fixed but it still not detecting the connection, so i can't, for ex, establish a vpn connection using the network manager.

at bug #83143 someone told about:
disconnect network cable and re-plug it and then paste the result of a :
dmesg |grep link

and this is what i got:

[ 12.413843] audit: initializing netlink socket (disabled)

but without the grep help i can get the link up and link down information:

[ 1578.601659] e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Down
[ 1587.888119] e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex

maybe it's something setup wrong with the network-manager to get messages about link up and link down.
