Bug Description
I have a memory card reader plugged into USB. I insert an SD memory card into the reader. The access light on the reader flashes momentarily, and dmesg reports
[ 9885.714282] SCSI device sdf: 2012160 512-byte hdwr sectors (1030 MB)
[ 9885.716401] sdf: Write Protect is off
[ 9885.716405] sdf: Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
[ 9885.716408] sdf: assuming drive cache: write through
[ 9885.720146] SCSI device sdf: 2012160 512-byte hdwr sectors (1030 MB)
[ 9885.722277] sdf: Write Protect is off
[ 9885.722283] sdf: Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00
[ 9885.722286] sdf: assuming drive cache: write through
[ 9885.722538] sdf: sdf1
The card can be mounted at the command line without problem
sudo mount /dev/sdf1 /mnt/tmp
but gnome/feisty does nothing. No GUI popup to handle the card insertion. However, if I insert my Canon camera into the USB port, it does pop up a dialog asking if I want to import photos. I would have expected something similar for the SD card, or at least it should automount somewhere.
Details of system:
AMD processor on nforce2 motherboard
various hard disks (sda, sdb, hda)
recently installed Ubuntu 7.04 (on hda1)
Some apps added, such as Thunderbird, vmware, Krusader, gxine, kaffeine etc
I have since discovered that other cards, are recognised as photo cards and automounted etc. Even though this card has been in a camera and has photos on it, it is not recognised, and I can't figure out what the differences are.
