Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
After working flawlessly in earlier Feisty Betas, the ability to resume from hibernation stopped working close to Feisty release. It started working again sometimes but nowadays a resume never works.
I get back into a black screen with a mousepointer displaying the "Thinking" mouse pointer. Every 15 seconds or so the pointer goes away and repositions itself in the middle of the screen. Is GDM constantly restarting? I don't know - because I find no way to troubleshoot it!
I cannot access any other terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F#), and Ctrl + Alt + Backspace does nothing...
If I press the power button on my laptop it will eventually shutdown (displaying some garbled lines of graphics in the top of the screen before going down all the way).
First mentioned in forumthread: http://
I will attach an output from Alt + SysRq + T (at least the kernel responds...). Please help me specify what else kind of information is needed to track this down.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug does not meet the criteria for a stable release update and is being marked as Won't Fix for this particular version of the kernel. You can learn more about the stable release update process at https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/StableRelea seUpdates . www.ubuntu. com/testing/ . wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelTeamB ugPolicies . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
However, the issue that you reported is one that should be possible to test with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the actively developed kernel. You can find out more about the development release at http://
If you do decide to test with the development release of Ubuntu please comment on this bug report and include at least the minimal information requested at http://
