Bug Description

Perhaps a page online listing contributors, broken up into different sponsoship levels, would serve to recognize those who help the project financially, and encourage others to donate, as well!

Sounds good in principle! I'll caucus around a bit before taking any
action though.

To state the obvious, we'd want to use caution here if we're thinking about linking out to other people's websites. The Ubuntu websites have a very high page rank, and some people would see this as an easy/cheap way to boost their own PR by making a small donation. This was seen recently by an organization who made a donation to Kubuntu and who we finally decided to refund. They were apparently doing it to simply buy a link on a high profile website. (and their website was not one that we would want to affiliate ourselves with)

Simply listing the names of organizations without links wouldn't be a problem.

This is quite old now. We've actually had problems with the kubuntu website doing this because organizations were effectively using it as a cheap way to link to their website for SEO purposes. Closing.
