Bug Description

I was trying to watch something in mplayer and it ended up crashing X and restarting at the GDM login screen. It did it once with a .wmv file and then once with a .avi file. Also it doesn't always crash sometimes it plays fine then other times it will. Also I am using Gutsy Gibbon which updated as of today. If you need any additional information let me know.

@ seisen: Do you use mesa and nv?
(bug #121574 happens with mesa and nv while using gl)

Actually no I am not using mesa and nv. I am using the openchrome drivers for the via chipset. Matter of fact I didn't have this problem till I upgraded to Gutsy. Also I don't understand how this is a duplicate bug considering I'm not using nv.

It appears to me leoquant is trying to tune stats.
If thats the case, let me tell everybody, that this will only have a positive effect on short term reputation:
When it comes out to the media, it will be bad publicity.
Furthermore in long terms this will slowly destabilize this project(s).

@seizen: your right...it isn't a duplicate.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' file and your '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' (Xorg.0.log.old may contain more information about the crash also) file as attachments to your bug report? Thanks in advance.

I don't see a crash in either Xorg.0.log file would it be possible for you to recreate the crash and then add the log file from the crash? Thanks again.
