[FFe] Merge fixes from debian/sid

I would like to merge the latest fixes from the debian/sid apt branch. Those are. It also includes a fix for #1429041.

All of those changes are pretty safe and got past the feature freeze of debian 7.0.

All tests pass:

Statistics: 151 tests were run: 151 successfully and 0 failed
All tests seem to have been run successfully. What could possibly go wrong?
