It takes ages to connect to WLAN, constantly asking for password

Bug Description

When I login to the gnome session, nm applet starts connecting (with this "rolling" icon). It takes ages to connect. It asks for WEP key many times - gives no error, just (nearly) eternal loop: "ask for key" - "rolling icon" - "ask for key" ... Sometimes it manages to connect (after many many attempts). It definitely sees my network (I see it in the list of available WLANs).

The kernel module is Intel's ipw3945. ipw3945d loads without errors

Vista on the same machine connects without any problem.

Same over here. Travelmate 291LCi - ipw 2200 - highly frustrating - says a Ubuntu Newbie - Is there hope in (Linux) life?

Thanks for that information.

Please, reboot, wait some time for it to try to connect (about 5 or 7 mins).
Then attach to this bug the file /var/log/syslog

Thanks in advance.

After the latest kernel updates this issue is very difficult to reproduce. I'll keep an eye on it though. Once I see it again - I'll provide the info.
