Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

The login music starts playing during the install process. (I believe this happens once before the formatting partitions step and twice in the detecting hardware step for a total of three times.) I have reproduced this problem on a hp desktop and an Acer laptop.

Wow, I can't believe i missed that detail. I was using the Hardy Alpha daily live CD (Dec. 9). This problem may have been fixed in later daily CDs (I'll have to check later), I just wanted to let it be known that this was an issue.

Back again after testing the Hardy Alpha 12.21 Live CD, and the problem seems to have gotten worse. It now plays a total of four times.
1st: 15% Detecting Filesystems
2nd: ~ 87% Configuring system time?
3rd and 4th: 90% - 94% Configuring Hardware
Other than the glitch, the installation was the fastest yet!

I've just installed Alpha 2 on my laptop and for accuracy's sake:
1st: 15% Detecting Filesystems
2nd: 87% Getting the time from a network time server
3rd: 90% Detecting hardware, please wait...
4th: 94% Loading module 'usb-storage' for usb storage? (really close)
Maybe logs would've been better...

I also experienced this with Hardy Alpha 4, Will test again with Alpha 5 and give more details. What files/information should I give if I encounter this again?

Still getting this with alpha 5 @
5% - ?? (forgot to check status)
87% - Importing docs and settings (even though I choose no imports)
94% - Setting up Hardware

My guess is the sound server restarting, and playing the song when it starts. (I have no proof this is true) Sound card is an Audigy 2 Value PCI.

This test: Hardy Alpha5 (i386)
Installation from the LiveCD's install icon on the desktop.

I can confirm this bug.

Ubuntu plays its fanfares (login/startup melody) several times during the installation process. The progress bar shows exactly the same values (5%, 87% and 94%) as mensioned by @Glenn Vording above.

Sound card of this PC is:

 $ lspci | grep -i audio
04:01.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB0400 Audigy2 Value
