The Hardy Heron Alpha series was recently released. Alpha2 and subsequent releases contain an updated version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/ . Please note that Alpha3 will be released within the next day or two so you many want to wait. You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you can, please verify if this bug still exists or not and report back your results. General information regarding the release can also be found here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ .

Hi, Leann

I think the bug is in the proprietary nvidia driver, if I use the nv
driver the bug doesn't occurs.

Thanks for the update tfmoraes. I'm just curious if you can cofirm if you were able to test and verify this issue still exists with the nvidia driver from linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (from the Hardy Alpha release)? Or did you just switch to using the nv driver with Gutsy and have been happy with using that. Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I tried with the last Ubuntu release and the bug continues, but I'm not using the proprietary nvidia driver any longer, I'm using the nv driver. In others distributions the same bug occurs. In arch linux I'm using the nouveau driver.

We are closing this bug report because it lacks the information we need to investigate the problem, as described in the previous comments (not using restricted driver anymore). Please reopen it if you can give us the missing information, and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future. To reopen the bug report you can click on the current status, under the Status column, and change the Status back to "New".

If you do re-open this bug, please tell us how went about installing the driver - using Restricted Drivers Manager? EnvyNG? Manual Install? Also, let us know the version of the nvidia driver if possible, then include the following info requested at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingXAutoconfiguration

Thanks again!
