Pidgin can't remember custom browser

Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

When setting custom browser to "firefox-3.0 %s", the client can't remember the setting.

Using eeeXubuntu, all packages up to date.

I have the same issue on kubuntu.
The settings we are talking about is in the browser tab of the preferences.

Pidgin version is 2.2.1
$ cat /proc/version
