Beagle not built against wv

Bug Description

There is no wv-dev package for wv Version 1 or wv. Beagle requires wv1 and when building Beagle, you have to also compile wv from source as there is no development package for wv.

Could this be fixed before Breezy? Without it, Beagle can not search Microsoft Word files.

Might try this with wv2 package but no promises, sorry.

I have uploaded wv-1.2.0 on REVu. It is not ideal, but at least it provide the dev files.

I'll rework the package to provide split packages.

Note that AbiWord HEAD now requires 1.2.0

Building Beagle with the capability to index Word files would be useful to a lot of people. Getting wv up to version 1.2 is the necessary first step.

That's why I have uploaded the package in REVU a while back.

Debian has a updated wv(1) package now which could be used for beagle. The sad thing is that it is probably too late now to update as this breaks all rdepends.

Don't you think this might be important for users? I would really like to see word filter support in Ubuntu's beagle packages. Can someone PLEASE import the debian wv 1.2 packages into Ubuntu dapper?

This debian bug states that the packages are available:

As explained above this won't be for dapper because the changes in wv were to great at that point of development and now dapper is released anyway. Maybe this can get into -backports but I doubt it, you have to fix all rdepends of wv

For edgy this will definitely happen nonetheless

Alright, but maybe updating to 1.0.3 + beagle patch would be an option? This should not break compatibility with existing packages. Information is here: http://www.beaglewiki.org/Optional_prerequisites

And the patch can be found here: http://users.avafan.com/~fredrik/beagle/wv-libole2-readonly.patch

I think users would really appreciate this! Besides, the wv package does not provide headers which I would consider as broken if there is not wv-dev package available.

ok the splitted wv is now there in edgy... now only beagle has to be built against it.
