Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde-guidance-powermanager

Hi, im using Kubutu since the 4. Alpha 8.04.

Suspend works for me if i use K-Start or the command line.
It doesn't work if i close the the Laptop or use the the rightclick->Suspend on the powermanager icon in the systray.
If i do that, It does recognise the action as it would go to suspend but it just locks the screen.

Hint: I'm using the German laguage and its the first time i saw the kde-powermanager translatet in hardy.
In Gutsy and earlier realeses it worked quit good.

Hardware: Thinkpad T43p

Exactly the same for me! Except that my laptop actually did go into standby while I was writing this report. But that was about 10 minutes after pressing the standby button.

I can confirm this on my laptop as well, a Dell XPS m1530. I can suspend from the Kubuntu shut-down menu, but not from the guidance-power-manager menu, which makes it quite impossible to suspend when closing the laptop lid!

However, Hibernate works just fine from the guidance power manager menu. Its just suspend that's causing the issue.

I have the exact same problem. From log-out menu suspend+hibernate works flawlessly, from kde-guidance hibernate works but suspend does not.

dcop `dcopfind -a 'guidance-*'` power-manager suspend
No suspend happens

dcop `dcopfind -a 'guidance-*'` power-manager hibernate
Machine hibernates

Problem found. The kde-guidance-powermanager asks HAL to suspend-to-ram and wake-up after 15 seconds... so either we will wake-up or we will never suspend (if wake-up after a certain period isn't supported).

I've attached a debiff with the fix.

The reason the debdiff looks so huge is that the previous upload in error had a changelog.dch and changelog.dch.save backup files included, so I deleted those.

Thanks. I'm working on some display-manager changes and I'll include this.
