Bug Description

Usplash is stopping hibernate from working on my Thinkpad. It doesn't work in a
default breezy, but if I uninstall usplash and -reconfigure the kernel, it works
fine. That is all the information i have, if I can get more, please tell me
how!! Thanks

confirming bug, given that \sh reproduces it on his machine.

I confirm this bug on a dell latitude d800, hibernate works fine without usplash,
but with usplash it sops on a console screen saying:

insmod: error inserting '/path/to/module/: -1 File exists
...

mknod /dev/fb0: File exists
/scripts/init-premount/usplash: 44: chmod: not found

a
/dev/cdrom: open failed: No medium found
Unable to find volume group hda9

I think only the lines concerning usplash are revelant since I have the last two
lines on a normal boot sequence.

Ok, I can duplicate this. I /think/ it's because a VT switch occurs after
processes have been frozen, except that usplash then gets signalled by the VT
switch and bad things happen. I'm looking into workarounds.

I'm not seeing this anymore: resuming from hibernate doesn't seem to attempt to use usplash. have
you fixed it Matthew?

Should be fixed in latest usplash

Still doesn't work for me on Dell Latitude D800
No more "/scripts/init-premount/usplash: 44: chmod: not found" message
but I still get the lines:
insmod: error inserting '/path/to/module/: -1 File exists

it about /drivers/video/console modules

Works perfectly with usplash disabled

Do you have the latest usplash installed? Have you regenerated your initrd?
