Bug Description
Currently the default Ubuntu install has DMA disabled for CDROM drives. A lot
of people (the majority, probably) have working CDROM drives and would benefit
from DMA (I've had to manually enable DMA on several friends computers).
I think a good way to approach this would be to build a whitelist of
known-working CDROM drives. If one of these is detected then DMA should be enabled.
