Bug Description

Started the 15 apr 2008 build with the live no splash option using petitboot 0.2 (crashes after splash screen with install option) and got a battery over charge warning and a usb ports 1 - 4 over current error with out any devices plugged into usb ports 2-4 (keyboard in port 1) in x-server.org. (this does not happen every time)

Ok I've just seen what I think is this error on my system.

Apr 20 10:11:10 ps3ubuntu kernel: [ 87.173914] usb 4-1: USB disconnect, address 2

Apr 20 10:11:10 ps3ubuntu kernel: [ 87.180805] hub 4-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32)
Apr 20 10:11:10 ps3ubuntu kernel: [ 87.180815] hub 4-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 1 disabled

Apr 20 10:11:10 ps3ubuntu kernel: [ 87.281924] usb 4-2: USB disconnect, address 3

It doesn't mention the word 'battery' but the wording is similar. Beyil is this it?

If this is it there's a couple of similar issues raised in LP already [0], [1], and few general references to it around the net [2] , [3].

The error was logged to the terminal but is also recorded in /var/log/kern.log which I've uploaded here. I hadn't noticed it before but looking at the log it was also reported on Friday night too.

Beyil when you next see this problem could you please take a copy of /var/log/kern.log from your system and upload here so we can compare?

Thanks.

After I get the error I can output to screen and the system locks up solid :( There isn't an intalled OS besides the game OS yet as it is still not booting from the cd which could allow it to install ubuntu.
I'm Currently burning the 20 APR 2008 build and hoping it'll show its face there for more detailed info..
I'll see if I can get anywhere unfortunatly my only means of posting a file like that is to put it on a flash drive and post from my computer. which may mean I'm out of luck if its shut down the usb ports and no formatted hard disk for it to record to...

I got the same output as you did in hte kern.log file, I have no clue as to how to mount a flash drive then copy the file to it from the terminal. :(
I have yet to repeat the battery part on the PS3. The over charge messages are just like what you posted and its in the kern.log as well, the only difference I see is the time stamp and the numbers differ slightly inside the brackets besides that everything else is the same.
Looks like the main hold up to install or run is the video not set properly in the x.org server as I'm seeing that error as well.

Ok lets not worry too much about this one at the moment. I don't think this will stop us installing and I think it may be a more general issue with the kernel, and therefore a duplicate of one of the bugs elsewhere in LP. We can come back to this after we've got the install and Xorg working.
