Bug Description

I am running up-to-date Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex with KDE 4.1. Akregator (version 1.2.50) works quite well in all other regards, but it does not remember its size when closed and restarted (or restored from the system tray, resized, minimized to the tray and then again restored). With KDE 3.5.9 Akregator worked the way it should have, i.e. it remembered its dimensions after a restart.

Strange. This bugged me for three days, even across restarts, but after the latest restart it seems to be gone. I have no idea what changed.

Reopening this bug. It still happens, actually it has happened a lot since I thought the problem was gone.

Usually when I start my computer, the first time I open Akregator from the system tray, it opens up like I want it to, i.e. maximised. However, subsequent access to the program cause it to open with a significantly smaller window, which I believe is the "default size" for Akregator window with no configuration.

Additionally, now I have to minimize the window by clicking the close button, as before I was able to minimize it to tray by clicking the button on the tray. This happened just recently, perhaps with the latest upgrade.

Also Akregator seems to forget my changes to how I want the articles to be sorted. I prefer by date, and after a reboot Akregator always sorts them alphabetically. This is a bit annoying, as Akregator also insists on returning the feed author info after every reboot. It's as if Akregator somehow decides to revert back to default values from time to time.

I am using up-to-date Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex. KDE version is 4.1.2 and Akregator version is 1.3.1.

Oh, and I even removed my akregatorrc file from ~/.kde/share/config after closing Akregator and created a new config file, but it did not change the situation.

I can confirm this behaviour. I see the same inability to remember display settings described in comment 4. In addition I can't get rid of the akregator introduction screen. On the introduction page there is a link 'If you do not want to see this page click here'

Clicking brings up a dialog box 'Are you sure you want to disable this introduction page?' With 2 buttons 'Disable' or 'Keep Enabled' (That probably ought to be cancel). If I click disable then and then click on a feed in the left panel the introduction page disappears.

If I quit akregator and restart then the introduction page appears again

This bug is present in Kubuntu Intrepid final. Akregator forgets the size of it's window every time. And if I click the icon on the system tray, it minimizes for a moment, but reappears at once (with default size). But Akregator *does* remember the position of the window.

There is a possibility that this problem is caused by the default window rules. (Similar to bug 292098)

Yes, this problem is caused by the default window rules.
As a workaround, you can delete the rule "Akregator initial default size" in System settings->Windows behaviour->Window specific.

The workaround didn't work for me. But you can set your own rule and force it to be maximized always or force it to a fixed size of your choice this way.

Confirming the previous comment.
Deleting the window rule for Akregator made it even smaller when started or restored from the tray. I tested that on current Jaunty. I have changed the rule to start Akregator always maximized, and it behaves now as I expect.

The default window sizes are gone in Kubuntu 9.04, and an update script has been added to remove the existing rules on upgrades.

It seems that the size is ignored if you close the application to the tray.

Workaround:
Set the size you want and -quit- the application. Don't just close it, quit it. This way the size is saved.
