Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

While Intrepid Alpha 6 was OK, Intrepid Beta 1 Live CD boots to a corrupted screen on Nvidia 7900GSPCIe/IiyamaB2403WS through VGA in + Wacom Cintiq (act as a second screen).

X show vertical colored bars + a 16/9 screen on the 16/10 of the Iiyama (see picture). All consoles show vertical bars (see picture), except for the first console, but this console's ls is garbled (see picture) and cursor remains on the right top of the screen.

Powering down the second screen doesn't help, one needs to physically unplug the cable from the second monitor.

Attached are the relevant files.

I've unmarked this bug as a duplicate of the other one since it is substantially more complete. We really need more information in 210340 to determine if it is the same bug as this one.

I tried installing with the Beta 1 Live CD after plugging a second graphic card (an MGA Matrox Mystique PCI) and connecting the second monitor (Cintiq 12wx) to it. The second monitor doesn't get any signal, and the Live CD starts, however the install fails after formating the partitions. Since the install crash quite bad (no access to the console, and I don't know how to remotely access a Live CD) I couldn't get much info. I can boot the Beta 1 Live CD again and get some logs and a lspci before trying to install if that can help, tell me if it's necessary and if I should file another bug report (the second card is still in the computer, since unplugging the monitor attached to it allowed me to install Beta).

As a newbie, I hope I'm doing this correctly.
I am dual booting Win98SE and Kubuntu. I've recently downloaded the Intrepid 8.1 version and I am getting intermittent problems affecting my L7AK2 flat screen monitor. It gives me crazy flashing lines similar to those already reported by Loic Martin. It also affects my monitor menu system making it inoperable. I have to physically unplug the monitor power source. I had no problems with Hardy 8.1 or previous Kubuntu versions. My monitor and system works faultlessly with Win98SE.

Thank you for reporting this issue about xserver-xorg-video-nv. Starting
with Lucid, Ubuntu is transitioning to using the -nouveau video driver
by default instead of -nv. The reason for this change is because
upstream development for the -nv driver has been quite slow. We are
quite pleased with the upstream development speed for -nouveau, and hope
this will translate into swifter bug fixes as well.

Because of this, I'm closing this bug report at this time. I'm marking
it wontfix because what you describe is probably a valid issue, but we
do not have further plans to work on it in Ubuntu. If you would still like
to see this issue investigated, I would encourage you to file it
upstream at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/.
