Please help me understand, as I'm somewhat confused at this point. I
get the documented error trying to install Squirrel SQL according to the
documentation.

I'm running Ubuntu Linux ver. 5.10 "Breezy Badger".

The error message does not help me understand why the install fails and
leaves the Squirrel Sql unusable. I'm still fairly new to Linux and
maybe there is something that I should derive from this that I've
missed.

I tried installing a newer release and an additional message is being
displayed now (see below). I hope it may be helpful.

==============
java -jar squirrel-sql-2.2rc1-install.jar

(.:22800): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_new: assertion `width > 0'
failed

** ERROR **:
file ../../../src/libjava/jni/gtk-peer/gnu_java_awt_peer_gtk_GtkImage.c:
line 572 (createRawData): assertion failed: (data_fid != 0)
aborting...
Aborted
==============

Thanks for your help. I'd like to get the product working.

Stan

As we don't have Squirrel SQL in the archive it is hard to determine that this is an issue with gdk-pixbuf in Ubuntu. Can you please try the squirrel sql 2.2 final and report back? http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=28383&package_id=29193&release_id=410063

Thank you.

I tried 2.2 final and got the following results :( no change ):

It probably doesn't have anything to do with the problem, but my screen resolution is 1280x1024. I was just trying to think of what "width" might be in the error message.

Breeze Badger is not supported anymore. Therefore I will close this report. If you have the same problem on a newer version of ubuntu that is still supported (Dapper, Edgy, Feisty) please feel free to re-open this report with the new information available.

Thanks.
