Yes its reproduceable.:(
I reported it to the upstream author.

thx for the report.

Rok Ruzic (rruzic) wrote : Q&D fix

I got a quick and dirty fix for this, here is the diff that fixes the bug on dapper. See attachment.

... the patch probbaly doesn't work because the febform processing broke it, just edit the file manually

... this however is just a quick and dirty fix. The problem is, that the version of the control is hardcoded in the sources.

There are three good fixes for this one, you should just decide what to use.

1. #define should be produced by the configure script after checking the installed version of libgtkhtml at compile-time.

2. the value should be determined dynamically at run-time, by reading listing of usr/lib/bonobo/servers.

3. peacock package should depend on the proper version of libgtkhtml (this fix is the worst of the three, but it doesn't mess with upstream).

If you decide on one of these two fixes and don't have the time to code them up, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The Debian maintainer has decide to go with the 3rd solution, and peacock now depends on libgtkhtml-3.8dev. See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=262440 for more information. This has been fixed in Edgy.

This bug renders the package completely unusable, hence is it a grave
bug according to http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#severities. To
me it sounds reasonable that this bug either must be fixed or the
package not be released with etch.

I've just checked, and peacock still crashes immediately upon opening
or creating a page. No response at all from upstream, nor any recent
bug activity at all from a quick look at

  http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=103369&group_id=3369&func=browse

Time to lose this package IMHO - it doesn't look like a fix is coming...

We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

   peacock | 1.9.1-7.1 | source, alpha, amd64, arm, hppa, i386, ia64, m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are never removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to <email address hidden>.

This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is
a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing
