We actually has two issues here:

1. Update to upstream version 0.2.2 (this requires approval from release managers);

2. Enable skim plugin.

I've pasted the required information for asking for UVF exception approval. I hope some Korean users can ask for this as they can give more arguments about why such a new version is necessary.

With "SCIM Input Method Setup", Korean users can specify activation keys for Hangul to Hanja.

atie (atie-at-matrix) wrote : SKIM configure

With skim, Korean users can configure multiple activation keys for "General SCIM", but there is no menu to setup Hangul to Hanja keys unlike SCIM Input Method Setup.

This is because current scim-hangul_0.2.1 can't be packaged for skim-scim-hangul plugin. In short, skim source in scim-hangul_0.2.1 needs to access cvs to build the plugin package.

I have built skim-scim-hangul package with scim-hangul_0.2.2 to show difference with/without skim-scim-hangule plugin. As attached screenshot there is a new menu(Hangul) at the bottom on left side. That is for Hangul to Hanja keys so that Korean users can specify Hanja key with skim as same as doing with SCIM Input Method Setup.

You forgot the most important step: to assign to 'motu-uvf' (you shouldn't need to mail the list). But anyway: I'm happy to see this update happen. I just want you to make sure that it *really* works for you. Please double-check the license, as there were big changes to the COPYING file.

Just for the record:

The big change in COPYING was changing from LGPL to GPL. The scim-hangul module has always meant to be under GPL, but apparently some lazy code copying caused mistakes (scim is under LGPL). The relevant changelog seems to be:

2006-01-17 02:16 James Su <email address hidden>

        * COPYING (1.3), src/candidatetable.h (1.2), src/hangulkeyboard.h
        (1.3), src/scim_hangul_imengine.cpp (1.6),
        src/scim_hangul_imengine.h (1.3),
        src/scim_hangul_imengine_setup.cpp (1.4):

        Fix copyright message.

2005-10-30 10:42 Choe Hwanjin <email address hidden>

        * AUTHORS (1.2), COPYING (1.2), ChangeLog (1.2), README (1.2):

        Update documents. Fix COPYING file (LGPL)
