Kde desktop effects fail to load after startup

Bug Description
I have recently applied some nice desktop effects to my KDE intrepid computer. These are just basic effects that come standard with kde. they work fine once they are applied. Then I log out or restart and the effects don't appear at all once relogging in. There are however still applied. If i want them to work all I have to do is apply a performance change of any type and they all start. I don't understand why i would need to apply (or even fake-apply) an appearance setting for them to kick in. They should start up automatically.
Any help would be great. Thanks!

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release?
