no display after update to 9.04 beta from 8.10

In my case, an upgrade to the RC from regular Ubuntu brought the same results. Mine is a Dell Latitude D610 with ati drivers.

goto shell and see what u have in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. check if u can fix it.

if not try replacing it with

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Default Screen"
        Monitor "Configured Monitor"
        Device "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Section "ServerFlags"
        Option "DontZap" "True"
EndSection
