Bug Description

I am not sure what package this affects. Soon, I'll get better at selecting packages.

The mouse pointer sometimes will not render correctly, and has an artifact either right next to it, or part of the pointer itself is incorrect. I use an ATI card, with the open source driver. Dual monitor configuration. If you require more information, I'm subscribed to this bug and will provide as much as I can. I am using Jaunty Beta.

jon@central:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04

Thank you.

Jon

Also, I tried to get a screen grab to illustrate better, however, the pointer is rendered correctly in the grab, so that was pointless (the screen grab for illustration that is).

Is this similar to yours? This too won't screenshot.
It happened on resuming from hibernation.
I'm running jaunty beta, have intel 945, compiz and UXA acceleration enabled.

If its different I'll open a new bug.

Hi seropith,

Thanks for including an image to demonstrate the issue. Could you also please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log or Xorg.0.log.old file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

I am also experiencing this problem. I have an ATI x1300, running on the default drivers for Jaunty Beta and dual monitors. I'm seeing mouse corruption. Unfortunately when I take a screenshot the mouse corruption is not captured. It seems as if it's only on certain parts of the screens. I saw this before in Intrepid, but after upgrading to the latest ATI driver it went away. Unfortunately I can't do that because the latest ATI drivers do not work in the version of Xorg Jaunty comes with.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

This also affects my configuration:

lspci:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M64-S [Mobility Radeon X2300]

Linux laptop 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

The machine is a HP Compaq 6910p with an external 17" monitor connected to analogue VGA.

See attachment for a photo (no screenshot possible) of the problem.

It will now download and try with a 9.10 (Karmic Koala) build, and see if this problem still exists.

File a new bug then; upstream has a one-person-per-bug-report, so it
makes it hard to forward a bug to them if the original reporter is
inactive.

This works fine with 9.10 Karmic Koala RC, just tested on the same hardware configuration.
