Bug Description
Binary package hint: fontconfig
When upgrading to jaunty from intrepid, the debconf configuration relating to bitmapped fonts stopped working (i.e. I suddenly got Vera Sans in my terminal, rather than jmk neep alt). I did a dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config, which worked in intrepid, and the option was there but disabled. Enabling it had no effect, and on running dpkg-reconfigure a second time I saw that my selection wasn't being stored / remembered. I ended up finding the right way (via removing no-bitmaps from /etc/fonts/conf.d -- thanks to asac for pointing out that I needed to close *all* gnome-terminal windows, and that I didn't need yes-bitmaps). The option still being present via debconf threw me off, however.

Many people can't use bitmap fonts in Jaunty right now due to this bug.. is it really so complex that it has been triaged and set to low importance?
