Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi-support

Hello !
I'm using intrepid and jaunty.
Intrepid does support my brightness hotkeys at the begining but one day... they didn't work anymore...
By "work", I mean that gnome was showing a bar representing the brightness, it's no more the case, it shows... nothing.
I am testing jaunty beta and the problem is still present.
acpi_listen recognizes the event :

Brightness down :
sony/hotkey SNC 00000001 00000010
sony/hotkey SNC 00000001 0000003b

Brightness up :
sony/hotkey SNC 00000001 00000011
sony/hotkey SNC 00000001 0000003b

I don't know where the problem come from exactly, maybe a bad script somewhere...

If you need more informations, ask me :)

Thanks !

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve Ubuntu.

acpi-support is not responsible for handling these hotkeys in jaunty, they are handled through the kernel input event layer.

It is likely that the bug you're describing is the same as bug number 95444. Can you please verify whether you have the latest versions of the hal and smartdimmer packages installed, and that you have done any indicated restarts? If you still see the problem with the current versions of these packages, please walk through https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting to help us determine where the problem lies.
