Duplicate floppy icons

Bug Description

In /etc/fstab I have:
    /dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto 0 0

so I get a "Floppy 1" icon in Computer.

I don't have a /dev/fd0 because of the current kernel PNP bug.

When I modprobe floppy I get /dev/fd0 and HAL sees the event adding a new floppy device, so I get a new "Floppy Drive" icon in Computer.

Either the event should be checked against existing entries to ensure that the DEVNAME of the new add event isn't the same as an fstab entry for which there is already an icon.

Or fstab entries for which the device shouldn't exist should be ignored.

This bug is NOT a duplicate of 27926

Please read the original submission and ignore the comments from other people.

The original submission is about a bug where only ONE floppy exists in fstab and the floppy module not being loaded until later.

I can also confirm this bug with Edgy (final) with latest updates (as of today).
I have 'Floppy 1' (apparently not working at all) and 'Floppy Drive", with just one hardware floppy drive.

I use Xubuntu 8.04.1 amd64 (64-bit)
I have this line in /etc/fstab :

/dev/fd0 /media/floppy0 auto rw,user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0

Floppy drive read-write and vfat recognising forks for me without problem.
Only problem that I see is that writing on FDD is not done right away
but floppy is not written until I try do umount it.

I can't reproduce this bug anymore using live CDs of Ubuntu 9.10 or Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 3. I only get one floppy disk drive (what should be with my hardware).

As it seems to be solved (please someone else confirm), could this bug be closed?

It could be. I haven't seen this bug for very long time.
