I'd very much like to see some sort of changelog. Apart from that we should check how many packages build-depend on cmake and make sure they still build and the files in there don't change (get moved around)

could you please find out which packages in the archive build depend on cmake, and test, if they still build with the newer version?

_all_ KDE4 and propably all related needs cmake. I haven't tested cmake 2.4.0 but cmake 2.3.4-20060317 causes little problems with linking, see http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-buildsystem/2006-April/002449.html
Because of that I have to move in and out some libraries from /usr/lib and I doubt I'm only one who will encounter this problem in the future with that cmake version :/
so, newer than 2.3.4-20060317 is needed.

Also kde package in ubuntu now will not use cmake for build , only those kde4 stuff.

this UVFe was declined, so it can be marked as rejected.

Reinhard Tartler (siretart) wrote :

no, it wasn't declined (yet). You was asked to compile a list of reverse build depends of cmake so that we get an idea of what we need to test rebuild, and actually do the test rebuilds. If you think this would make too much work, then please set this bug to 'rejected'

It looks like only the following 3 package build depend on cmake:
libapache2-mod-xmlrpc2
octaviz
vtk

if all 3 package still build with the new cmake, I'm okay with updating. Please confirm this by attaching buildlogs of all 3 mentioned packages.

Get this into Edgy, then see if it's -updates or -backports material.

Hi! cmake guys just released cmake-2.4.3:
http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-buildsystem/2006-July/003212.html

Is it possible to update a package in edgy?
Note that this isn't strictly required for KDE4 (cmake-2.4.1 is required), but this release contains some bug fixes and nice new features... :)

Cheers,
Dmitry.
