Bug Description

Binary package hint: hal

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 RC, but have read that this problem exists in 8.10 also. I have a BenQ M310 wireless mouse. When plugged in the mouse and receiver function correctly, the scroll light flashes in response (it also works correctly on a windows box). It is plug n play. The click buttons and the scroll wheel work perfectly yet the mouse fails to track across the screen when I move the mouse.

On this laptop I also have a synaptic touchpad. Whenever the wireless mouse is plugged in the two click buttons and the scroll button on the touchpad fail to respond but the touchpad is able to move the cursor. I believe there may be a conflict here between the two input devices.

The USB receiver registers as 'Darfon Electronics Corp' under 'lsusb'.
Interestingly, under 'xinput list' the mouse is listed as 'XExtensionKeyboard'.
However under '/dev/input' the device is labeled as 'mouse2'.

Any advice on this issue would be much appreciated, thank-you.

This also still occurs in Karmic. Looks like this bug is the same as bug <A href="https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/325581> 325581</A>, which will hopefully be fixed in lucid.
