Bug Description

It should use new messaging API if available (default on new ubuntus), see here:

Yes, that would be nice on the wishlist. I guess mail-notification currently does not support the indicator applet in the Ubuntu GNOME panel. Maybe the developers are not running Ubuntu?

I think it this would be a great idea. Two envelopes don't look nice and is a waste of space.

I don't know how to do this, but I think this bug report has to be linked to Ubuntu, as their new release Karmic makes use of those notifications and thus the developers over there are interested in this bug?
