puuuh, this update is huge. Did you really test the new version rigirous? How broken is the current version?

I'm currently using it.
Many displays have problems displaying gauge and graphics, due to gtk2.8 in our actual ubuntu version. And so they simply aren't usable.

Judging from the changelog (and keeping in mind that probably most of the changes are related to the Null object removals noted in the changelog), that you're using it currently and it works fine for you and fixes a fairly big problem I'm all for updating this.
Reinhard, Daniel? What do you think?

If you guys agree on watching gdesklets bugs and make sure to forward them upstream, you can do it.

Vetsel's explanation convices me, if he says he uses the updated version without problems, I think we should do the upgrade. Vetsel: can you please handle the updating?

I'm ready to do what to you want, but i need help.
