Bug Description

Though, it sounds like a setting is required in .screenrc, that is ignored. a compiled version of rxvt-unicode-5.8 works as expected. That is,

scenarios:
screen in xterm : backspace works as expected
screen in rxvt-unicode (from ubuntu) : backspace does not work. however, ctrl +h/fn + delete works
screen + rxvt-unicode compiled from source : backspace works as expected

All with the same .screenrc. Thus the problem must be with rxvt-unicode from ubuntu?

Will be glad to provide any additional information!

Thanks

compiling with no_backspace option fixes this error.

I would rather not deviate from upstream's [Debian's] debian/rules configurations, but if this behavior is vastly unexpected and annoying, I could make an exception. Is this same behavior reproducible in the normal rxvt [non-unicode] package?

Hi,

This irritating behaviour can be fixed by using

URxvt*deletekey: ^H
URxvt*backspacekey: ^H

in .Xdefaults.

Please mark bug as fixed/closed/not a bug!
