Bug Description

Binary package hint: python2.6

There are many files missing from /usr/lib/python2.6/test, I can't find any library that provides them (apt-file didn't find anything).

These files are needed when you develop python extension that might modify the behavior of the whole system (like psyco).

A subset of these is found in python2.6-dev. Any other file which is missing, should be added there. which files are needed?

I currently don't have a Ubuntu to check this, I'll *probably* have
one next week and
check.

OK, attaching a diff from the installed Ubuntu (9.04) with python-dev and the files in the Python 2.6.2 source distribution.
Many are missing.

no, that might be a misunderstanding. I know which ones are missing. I wanted to know which ones you need, and you surely need all of them

You probably meant "surely do not need all of them" ?

When working on psyco, we need to run the whole test suite to make sure it doesn't break anything in Python.
So yes, we need *everything*. Maybe a new package python-dev-tests?
