Bug Description

I havn't researched this very thoroughly, cos it takes so long to reboot the system if it does fail...

However, this is the process I can use to create a crash.
-Start amarok
-Add a folder to the list describing hte location of your music files.
-On the appropriate menu, click Rescan Collection
-The scan will almost complete (the bar gets to 96%), then hang. This is appears to be on the first checked folder to be scanned in the list, which i assume is scanned last (This is not a TagLib problem, as it always crashes right at the end, even if the ones it failed on last time are not selected).
-The program has crashed at this stage and is unusable, though the window can still be moved around/minimised etc.
-If you click on the cross to close the program window, after a few moments you are presented with an option to Force Quit, which I take.
-I then try and reboot amarok. Won't work at all.
-Then try and reboot the system (System -> Logout -> Restart).
-This crashes the desktop environment (at least - I don't know much about linux). And at this stage no inputs will respond and the only option left is the reset button.

-I'm wasn't too sure about to file this bug, as the error is obviously somewhere in amarok. However, I am led to belive that the Linux timeslicing and memory controls should make the possibility of a single program crashing the whole OS almost impossible.

I'm Using Ubuntu 5.10, downloaded 06/04/05, and various packages* installed 8/04/05

The files are on a external usb hard disc, FAT32 formatted.

*All the updates, varios codecs, amarok and required KDE components and MySQL for it's database.

I am trying to follow up on this problem, first question is are you still having this problem? And second is your machine currently up to date?

I am currently running Kubuntu Dapper without these problems on amroaK. I have a pretty large music collection (30GB) using mysql as the collection database and have no issues. I am wondering if you are able to upgrade this?

On my Breezy box, Kuubntu 5.10, I tried to replicate this problem but was not able to.

I am rejecting this bug as there has been no updates from the original requestor since April of 2006. This bug deals with Breezy and I am unable to replicate it on Dapper. Please make sure your system is running Dapper and completly up to date. If you are still having problems with this bug, please re-open it.

Thanks,

Jonathan
