kword: scim doesn't work properly

Bug Description

1.) install skim/scim with hanglu module (korean), plus fonts etc.
2.) enable scim with ctrl-space
3.) choose "3bul final" as method
4.) enter "jfsheaofncj4" (the typical korean greeting my textbook tells me)

on normal applications (tested on kate, kwrite. konqueror, bluefish, firefox
and konsole (with vim)) this works ok: the characters form sylabils like
jfs-hea-of-nc-j4. great. but with kword something is broken: it only
merges jfs into one syabil and then keeps each character standalone.

I'm using (k)ubuntu dapper and updated yesterday or so, so all software
should be current as of 2006-04-14.

Confirm this bug. I have tested kword_1.4.2-3ubuntu1 with skim_1.4.4-0ubuntu6 and scim-hangul_0.2.1-1ubuntu2 (all up-to-date versions as of 2006-04-18).
My testing method :
 - Input "jfsheamfncj4" - (안녕하세요) with 3bul final.
 - Input "dkssudgktpdy" - (안녕하세요) with 2bul.
with kate and kword to check whether this problem is related to scim-hangul bug. Kate was OK for both cases, but kword couldn't accept letters after jfs-h for 3bul and dks-s for 2bul. (little bit different than this report) So, I strongly believe this problem exists in the kword.

I agree. I did notice that typing something using the
English/European input method, then swapping back to
3bul Final seems to fix the problem... odd.

I have a feeling the KWord developers know there are some issues
with this, but I can't see a bug in the KDE bugzilla ... should this
be filed upstream?

OK, I've filed this bug upstream and linked the Malone bug to
the KDE bugzilla.

any chance we will see koffice 1.5.1 in dapper?

or will dapper stay at koffice 1.5.1? will anyone backport
the fix, or will we have to live with the bug in dapper?

note: for me it is not important. I only use korean
for fun and learning, but not real work.

Thanks for your help!

Dapper entered 'version freeze' in January, before KOffice 1.5 was released.
As far as I know, this means that it will have 1.4.2 in main, and will
therefore still have this bug.

However, you can always use these packages for 1.5.0:
http://kubuntu.org/announcements/koffice-15.php
(which also have this bug, but are much improved over KOffice 1.4)

When 1.5.1 is released, packages for it will no doubt appear on kubuntu.org,
and you'll be able to install them on Dapper. Boudewijn, the KOffice release
manager, has mentioned the end of May for the 1.5.1 release - but that's
subject to change of course.

Note than KOffice 1.4 is no longer getting any bug fixes, so using the
packages from kubuntu.org is probably the best idea.

I have backported this patch from 1.5.1 branch, but did not test it (had probles with skim/did not know how to use it properly for the first time). Please check next koffice update and reopen if it does not fix the problem for you.
