I get the same error when trying to record a video. I'm not sure what kind of debugging you would like but I'll try to provide it.

after i run the backtrace it shows the following log and the cheese window grayscales and just hangs.

CJay554 , the gdb is not complete , you need to follow all the steps given in the wiki to get a full backtrace and it also seems your crash might be different
