Bug Description

Hello,

when using the -u option of kdesu (as in "kdesu -u auser -c kwrite"), a password dialog pops up (as expected), but the only password working is that of the admin user, the password of user "auser" (from the example) is not accepted. The owner of the process "kwrite" is auser, all permissions are evaluated for this users and the home-directory is correct, just the password is not auser's. This is a bug - or is it a feature?

best regards,
raph

Hello again,
just tested this on dapper and there it is even worse, just error messages and finally a crash dialog.. (since this is fairly easily reproduceable, I didn't include the error messages here.)

Some more information:

First, either my "aguest" account was broken or it got corrupted by the kdesu-experiments, anyways, now I can't even log in normally from kdm, but that's a different story.
Now I set up two new and clean users "test" and "test2", let's call the admin-user "user1".

Now, "kdesu -u test2 -c kwrite"
1) when started by user1 produces no more error messages, but still asks for user1's password. The kdesu man page says:"It allows you to run programs as another user by entering their password." This means test2's password, doesn't it?
2) when started by test, kdesu asks for a password, but always says "Incorrect password; please try again." no matter what password (user1's, test's, test2's) is entered.

By the way, su works fine.
Hope this makes it clearer now.. I tried to eliminate all influences from my personalized setup :)

kind regards,
raph
