Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

steps to reproduce:

- goto Desktop
- create a Folder
- create an empty file in this new folder
- delete (move to trash) the created folder

- open trash > open the created folder
- grab the file with the mouse and release it on the desktop

The following error message appears:
Error while moving "new file".
There was an error moving the file into /home/ubuntu/Desktop.
- Items in the trash may not be modified

If you COPY the file, it works.

(I filed this bug, because I think the shown procedure is very intuitive.)

I'm having the exact same problem in 11.04. I can't even get copy-paste to work. This is terrible!

I am having the same problem as well. I tried to restore a folder that had important files. Kept receiving "Items in the trash may not be modified". Copying it instead of restoring the original worked.

I also saw "Items in the trash may not be modified". Copying it instead of restoring the original worked.

Something is really messed up if it thinks restoring is illegally modifying trash files.
